A Roth IRA is an Individual Retirement Account named after Senator William Roth who is its chief legislative sponsor; it is a special type of retirement plan under US law. Roth IRA were Established by the Taxpayer Relief Act of 1997 and is specially designed to facilitate for the saving for life after retirement and it provides certain tax benefits to the owner of a Roth IRA.

Roth IRA can contain investments in the form of securities, common stocks and bonds, the main advantages of Roth IRA is its tax structure and the additional flexibility that the tax structure provides to the individuals, the Roth IRA are also popular because of the lesser restrictions on the investments and the different tax advantages it provides to the individuals

Roth is gaining popularity because of the deductible IRA and for the fact of getting taxed at the time of payment rather that getting taxed at the time of withdrawal and also because there is no time limit on withdrawal in comparison to the other IRA where the individual have to withdraw after the age of 70 and a half years in the Roth IRA the amount of the investments grows with the individual and because of the availability of a regularly-taxed investment account

Roth IRA is the simplest, flexible, advantageous IRA account and Roth IRA Advantages are many from opening the Roth to distributions or withdrawing or even beyond it. A Roth can be opened at an agency like bank, credit ratings union, or exact financial organization and there are various kinds of investment allowed in a Roth IRA, The account can have stocks, market funds, CDs, mutual funds, bonds, index funds, and in some instances, a savings account. Even the funds from the traditional or other retirement plans can be converted into a Roth IRA but it is important to remember that these funds are subjected to tax as the investments or contributions to the Roth IRA are after tax dollars.

Roth IRA advantage is that any investment gains grow tax-free in the account and as stated earlier there are many options for investment and the entire amount of the return form those investment is Tax free.

Another Roth IRA advantage is that the withdrawals not taxed not just the withdrawal amount but the earnings from the amount withdrawn are not taxed this is because the contributions made by the owner are after tax amounts that is the tax is paid in advance, the owner is also allowed to make the withdrawals at any time provided he/she is 59 and a half years or older or has maintained the account for 5 years. Even if the stated conditions are not satisfied the owner is subjected to withdrawals but is liable for 10 % penalty on withdrawals. Not just the earnings but even the principal amount can be withdrawn.The withdrawals can be made after being qualified but if required the account can be maintained for life as there are no mandatory withdrawal limit, the account can be kept safe for spouse or heirs of the owner

Another Roth IRA advantage is that the owner need not have to worry about rising income tax rates, because your withdrawals in retirement are tax free.
